Einige meiner Vereinskameraden treffen sich abends um halb zehn für dieses besondere Spektakel nochmal zum Rudern, wir bevorzugen nach 34km Rudern plus Krafttraining dann doch die gemütliche Variante: zu sechst auf Markus' Katamaran und ab in den Hafen! Am Containerterminal vorbei geht's in richtung Köhlbrandbrücke, die zu unserer Enttäuschung gar nicht blau erstrahlt... erst als wir drunter duch sind stellen wir fest, dass das mal wieder ein Fest für die Bewohner des Nordstrands ist: die Brücke ist nur einseitig beleuchtet. Wir folgen dem Köhlbrand bis zur Einmündung in die Norderelbe und staunen nicht schlecht: auf der Elbe herrscht dichter Verkehr. In beide Richtungen fahren mehr oder weniger blau beleuchtete Gefährte vorbei: wir sehen viele Hafenfähren, zwei Kreuzfahrtschiffe, ein riesiges Papierboot, einen Schaufelraddampfer, einen Schwimmkran und sogar die Cap San Diego wird von zwei Schleppern in Richtung Nordsee bugsiert. Wir beschließen, uns da mal lieber nicht mit unserer Nussschale einzureihen und treten den geordneten Rückzug durch die Ellerholzschleuse, in den Reiherstieg, vorbei am Spektrum-Festival, für das der Rethespeicher in buntes Licht getaucht ist.
A birthday trip with the catamaran
This weekend, the cruise days take place in the port of Hamburg - with lots of cruise liners, a big firework and the special blue port lightshow lighting up several bridges, ships, container terminals and the new opera house. Best conditions for a small trip...Some of my club mates meet at the rowing club in the late evening to row to the port and watch the spectacle. We decide not to go rowing again after the 34km rowing plus 1h weight training we have already done, and take a comfortable seat on Markus' catamaran.
Way down the Süderelbe, we pass by the huge container ships, cross the Köhlbrand Bridge (only 53m height this evenening - take care of your heads!) and stop at the Elbe. We're astonished by what's passing by: Ferries, cruise liners, a huge origami paper boat, a floating crane, a paddle steamer and also the Cap San Diego (honestly, I was not aware it can still move). We decide not to join the parade with our nutshell and return back through our usual training ditrict, the Reiherstieg, passing by the Spektrum-Festival, for which the silos at the Rethe Bridge are illuminated with colorful patterns.
