Nach 2 Wochen in
Ratzeburg ist bei mir gerade ein kurzer Zwischenstopp zu Hause dran - Wäsche
waschen, packen, Zeitungsinterview und dann geht's auch schon wieder los
Richtung Frankreich.
Vor ein paar Tagen
ist dann auch das rekordverdächtige Meldeergebnis rausgekommen:
Insgesamt werden im
Leichtgewichts-Fraueneiner 22 Boote am Start sein. Wohl bekannt und gefürchtet
sind mir dabei Europameisterin Imogen Walsh (Großbritannien), Weltrekordlerin
(inzwischen auch im U23-Doppelzweier) Zoe MCBride (Neuseeland) und Fabiana Beltrame
(Brasilien), die Zweitplatzierte aus Varese.
Hinter mir konnte
ich dieses Jahr schon die Boote aus Algerien, Österreich, Litauen, den
Niederlanden und Südafrika lassen.
Der Rest ist mehr
oder weniger Wundertüte - da sind zum Einen Starterinnen, die dieses Jahr noch
gar nicht in auf den Weltcups Erscheinung getreten sind, nämlich Armenien,
Frankreich, Marokko, Mexiko, Kanada und die USA. An letzteren beiden -
Catherine Saucks, Gewinnerin der diesjährigen PanAm Games im Doppelzweier und
Kathleen Bertko, Bronzemedailliengewinnerin der letzten WM - vorbeizukommen
braucht allerdings wohl ein Stück Glück und Arbeit.
Zum Anderen sind da
die Starterinnen, die dieses Jahr bisher nur im Doppelzweier oder im
U23-Bereich unterwegs waren. Das sind Australien, Irland, Japan, Polen und
Schweden. Dort fehlen mir natürlich die Vergleichsmöglichkeiten.
Fest steht: es wird
spannend.

A-Finals werden dieses Jahr sogar Live auf Eurosport übertragen. Das ZDF zeigt
die Finals der Olympischen Klassen am Samstag und Sonntag von 14:40-15:50.
Der Rennmodus hat
sich durch das große Meldefeld noch einmal verändert: Es wird 4 Vorläufe mit
jeweils 5 oder 6 Booten geben, von denen sich jeweils nur das erste direkt fürs
Halbfinale A/B qualifiziert. Die Restlichen Boote werden anschließend neu gemixt
und treten noch einmal in Vier Hoffnungsläufen mit 4-5 Booten an, von denen
sich jeweils noch die Plätze 1 und 2 fürs Halbfinale qualifizieren können.
Die
"rausgeflogenen" Boote treten dann im Halbfinale C/D an. In den
Halbfinals gilt dann wieder der gewohnte "3 gewinnt"-Modus - jeweils
die ersten 3 Boote qualifizieren sich für das höherwertige Finale.

Some more news about the world rowing championships
Having finished the
2-week training camp in Ratzeburg, I'm back at home for 2 days to relax, wash
my clothes and give an interview for the newspaper bevor leaving to France.
A couple of days
ago, the enormous entry list with 1300 athletes from 77 nations has been
released:
In the leightweight
womens single, there will be 22 boats.
I do already know
only eight of them and suppose that Imogen Walsh (GBR), Zoe McBride (NZL) and
Fabiana Beltrame (BRA) will again be my toughest concurrence, while I do not
expect too much resistance from Algeria, Austria, Lithuania, the Netherlands
and South Africa.
The remaining 13
boats are more or less unknown to me. There are a couple of rowers (Australia,
Ireland, Japan, Poland, Sweden) who have raced in the double on the world cups
or in the U23.
Another couple of
boats - Armenia, France, Marokko, Mexico, Canada and USA have not been to any
world cup this year. The Canadian Cahterine Saucks has won the PanAm games in
the double, and Kathleen Bertko from the United Staes is last years' bronze
medallist.

the races, you can as always do so on worldrowing.com. All A Finals will be broadcasted on Eurosport (at least in Germany).
Due to the big
field, the race mode has changed: there will be four heats, from which only the
winner is directly qualified for the semi A/B. All the other boats are mixed up
again and have to race repecheages. From each of the four repecheages, another two
boats will qualify for the semi A/B, while all the remaining boats will compete
in the Semi C/D. From the Semis, the first three Boats make it to the Final.
